Form sentences with every new word you learn, and most importantly try and make use of them when conversing. Practice to speak with others in English. Don't be embarrassed when someone points out a mistake. In fact, learn from it. Above all, confidence is the key to success, so don't hesitate to make use of the new language you learn. After all, you learn to apply. Finally, practice makes a man perfect. So, read, write and listen as much as you can. Don't forget one is born blank to learn and gain insatiable knowledge, so, its never too late. Enjoy Learning!

9. Language is one of the most important ways humans express themselves. Most of us can truly express ourselves in the language we know. For example, we are fluent and comfortable with our mother tongue. But it is not the case with English as it is not the mother tongue for most of us. So, we all make common mistakes. But you need to spot these mistakes so that they can be addressed. This helps us begin to develop fluency in English.

8. Read Aloud. This is a simple tip to make yourself comfortable with your own speaking voice. Take the newspaper editorial or any other paragraph and read aloud. You may also want to record this and analyse it later.

7. Listen to the sound of your own voice. Even though you may not like hearing your own voice, it is a good idea to record your own voice and then analyse your speech. You need to get comfortable hearing your own voice.

6. Think in English. This is a great way to improve your speaking skill. You can do it anywhere, anytime. At home, you can talk to yourself while doing everyday tasks like making your bed or cleaning your room. If you are in a train or bus, describe the people around you (in your head, not aloud!) and when you go to bed, go over the day's event in English.

5. Sing a song! Music is a great way to improve your speaking skills, practice the rhythm of a language or to pick up useful phrases. Look up the lyrics to your favorite English songs in the internet and practice singing aloud.

4. Reading maketh a full man. Make it a point to read one English newspaper every day. Read the editorial section, business section and sports section. While reading, note down the new word and idiom usage in your diary and look up its meaning and pronunciation in the dictionary. This will help not only in building your vocabulary, but also make you aware of current affairs. Since you will be spening atleast 30-45 minutes on the newspaper, try to analyse current affair issues and form your own opinion on those. This will help you in group discussions and interviews.

3. Vocabulary is commonly defined as "all the words known and used by a particular person".Having a large vocabulary helps in good articulation while speaking and also helps in scoring more in the English section of the Aptitude test. Learn at least 5 new words everyday. Have a small pocket diary and note down the 5 words. Try to use those words in your conversation and in your writing. With 5 new words in a day, you can learn 150 new words in a month and more than 1800 words per year. If you follow this practice, you can easily learn around 8000 words in 4 years of engineering.

2. Speak in English - No matter what. Most people shy away from speaking in English thinking that they do not speak it correctly. Actually, it does not matter if you speak correctly or not. Be Shameless. Speak in whatever broken English that you can. Over a period of time, your vocabulary, diction and grammar will definitely improve.

1. Understand that English Communication is a SKILL. As with any skill like playing a guitar, singing or carpentry, this skill can also be learnt. As long as you can speak in any language, you have the capability to speak in any other language as well. The only thing it takes to learn a skill is initiative and practice. So, take the initiative and keep practicing. You will be able to speak fluent English in a course of time.
