CAPGEMINI INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

Capgemini placement drive experience:

Hi, I am M. Kalyan, a final year(ECE) student from VNR VIGNANA JYOTHI INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & TECHNOLOGY, Hyderabad. Capgemini visited our campus on 7th November 2013. We had written test on 7th and Group Discussion and interviews on 8th November

Written test:

It was an online test conducted by CoCubes. It was a 90 min test with 3 sections of 75 questions. There was sectional cut-off, so time management is very important. Cut-off was low in Quantitative ability when compared to English and reasoning sections. There was negative marking, 1 mark for every correct answer and ‘-0.25’ for every wrong answer. The sections were

Analytical Reasoning: 25 questions

Difficulty level was easy. Questions were asked on data interpretation (3-4 questions), data sufficiency (3-4 questions), and two flowchart problems (4-6 questions, for example a job application process will be shown with some constraints for the application to pass on at each stage in the form of a flowchart and there will be some questions. Based on flowchart you need to answer the questions.), blood relations, statement and conclusion, syllogism, coding decoding, analogy.

Verbal ability (English): 25 questions

Difficulty level was moderate. Questions were asked on synonyms, antonyms, spotting error, sentence completion and two reading comprehension passages.

Quantitative ability: 25 questions

Difficulty was high. Questions were asked on trigonometry (sine and cosine problems, better revise trigonometry formulae), geometry (related to incenter, circumcentre, centroid, angles subtended, various types of triangles, cylinders and pyramids, cubes), percentages and averages, time, speed and distance, time and work, mixtures and alligations, problems on ages, simple and compound interest, profit and loss. Questions were very time taking but cut-off in this section was very low. I could attempt only 10 questions and I cleared the test.
Time management is very important to clear this test. Do reasoning and English sections quickly so that you can save time for Quantitave ability.

 Written Test Tips

Group discussion:

Around 600 took the written test and 99 were shortlisted. We were divided into ten batches. There were 5 GD rooms, so they called five batches at once and started the GD. All the five batches got the same topic “Dependency on gadgets”. The next five batches were called after them and they changed the topic, it was “Social Media”(HR pretended like he is thinking and giving the topic on the spot but all five batches got the same topic which means they decided the topics before itself). I was in the second five batches.

Two minutes of time was given to collect the points (take a pen and a white sheet). Then, at first, everybody in the group is individually given a chance to voice their opinion for 2 minutes. Then the discussion was started and lasted up to 20 minutes. You just need to take your chances and voice your opinions confidently while supporting the team members. Also be a good listener (like if someone tells a point try to add your own flavour to it and say it again or it will be much better if u can give an example supporting that point). If you speak atleast 3-4 times confidently while coordinating with your team then you are done. Out of 99, 53 were shortlisted after GD. I was one among them.

HR Interview:

After GD, there was only one round of interview. It was more of HR and less of Technical for most of the people. Questions were mainly asked on project (your role in project) and from resume. Prepare well for project and possible questions from resume. Introduction, strengths, weaknesses, why IT field?( if you are not from CSE/IT), family background, further studies, about capgemini, basic questions on C and Java, questions from the branch of engineering(I mean if you are from ECE then questions on core subjects of ECE, just related to basics) were asked. The questions largely depend on the interviewer, his mood and your luck. Be confident, show good attitude and maintain good etiquette. Out of 53, 38 members were selected finally.
